The role The successful appointee will be responsible for the development and application of new inversion techniques for large-scale geophysical data in particular for electro-magnetic and magnetotellurics methods. Targeting high-end parallel computers at UQ and at Australia's supercomputer infrastructure you will deliver state-of-the-art inversion capability for the NCRIS Australian Earth and Geospatial Science project, see http://www.auscope.org.au/. The successful candidate is expected to engaged with researchers at UQ, and at other Universities, both domestic and international, to solve challenging inversion problems and to publish in high-quality research journals. The person Applicants should possess a PhD in geophysics, applied mathematics or scientific computing. The ideal candidate will come with a strong background in theoretical and applied geophysics and advanced numerical methods and will have experience in scientific computing.
