About the Role The Lead Application Specialist participates actively in an application management and support team accountable for delivering activities associated with the application lifecycle. The role ensures high-quality and responsive customer service, good practice IT service management, application support and maintenance (including legacy systems), and support for the implementation of new initiatives. As a Lead Application Specialist you will: Participate in a technical team to deliver timely, high quality support and related services to the Department’s Student Management applications;; ensure the ongoing operational efficiency; manage and maintain system performance; and resolve system incidents in enterprise scale applications in line with departmental processes Oversee the provision of third level technical support for applications, systems and programs; analyse and resolve problems, and where necessary, follow-through with external service providers; monitor recurring problems to identify trends and resolve performance issues. Maintain system documentation, including technical and user guides, software asset and configuration registers, problem and resolution knowledge bases, and other documentation produced during the application and/or system lifecycle Analyse & categorise incidents, identify patterns trends, potential problem sources, report metrics and proactively manage for resolution and improve end user experience Work with ICT professionals, key stakeholders and system users to integrate off-the-shelf applications and systems, as well as amend and upgrade the Department’s applications, databases and systems; actively contribute throughout the scoping, designing, development, testing and implementation phases as applicable to the project What You Will Bring Demonstrated experience and knowledge in support, maintenance and management of large enterprise scale technologies and applications, hosted on premise and in the cloud. Robust analytical, problem solving skills and attention to detail Positive ‘can do’ attitude and flexibility in work schedule Strong customer focus and commitment to continuous improvement to customer service Excellent communication skills both written and verbal that adapts to suit the audience and situation Sound working knowledge of IT service management principles and frameworks including ITIL, process tools, frameworks, and best practice methods Knowledge of and commitment to the Department’s Aboriginal Education and Training policies and to ensure quality outcomes for Aboriginal people.
