About IES:  

International Education Services Limited (IES) is a Brisbane based, not-for-profit organisation dedicated to the pursuit of excellence, innovation and growth in international education. IES commenced operations in 1997, initially delivering IES Foundation Year. The program is a one-year course that prepares international students for undergraduate entry into The University of Queensland.

Since its first year, IES has successfully prepared more than 8,000 students for university and it continues to grow in popularity and attract high quality students from more than 40 nations annually. After unprecedented growth in enrolment numbers, IES College currently consists of three campuses based in Spring Hill, with a capacity to educate over 2,500 individuals in university pathways, English language, and other classroom based programs.

Due to our continued growth, IES is seeking a Head of Department for Mathematics. The Head of Department will articulate a shared vision and build a well-resourced, reflective and experienced teaching team.

As a strong leader operating with a recognised global leader within the international education industry, your key focus will be the following:     

• Fostering collaborative decision-making processes 

• Developing an innovative, relevant and engaging curriculum 

• Fostering teaching and learning excellence via contemporary pedagogy 

• Providing leadership to ensure a supportive and challenging learning environment 

• Contributing to the strategic direction of teaching and learning of IES College 

Key requirements: 

• A Bachelor's degree in the relevant subject area (s) and postgraduate qualifications in education (highly desirable) or other relevant field.

• At least five years full time teaching experience in the relevant subject area (s), including significant experience in teaching international students; a demonstrated ability to deliver a high standard of teaching in a variety of learning environments for students at varying English language proficiency levels. 

• Demonstrated ability to develop new courses and materials and evidence of strategic leadership in curriculum design and development, including online learning platforms. 

• Demonstrated ability in innovative assessment design and management, including plagiarism detection tools, student progress evaluation, placement interviews, marking, and moderation.

• Proven success in the management of small to medium sized teaching teams   incorporating effective performance planning and review, strong academic leadership and targeted professional development. 

• Demonstrated high level interpersonal and communication skills, including preparation of high level documentation and reports in liaison with stakeholders.

Desirable: 

An understanding of the role of international education in a tertiary education environment. 

Membership of professional/education associations.
