About the role
Some people would say this the ideal job! The hours are perfect – minimum 3 hours a day (10am - 1pm), five days a week. There will also be the opportunity to extend these hours from time to time.
We are looking for a happy, capable person to support our centre cook, and also, when needed, assist our educators on the floor with the children. A Cert 3 in Education and Care is essential. A food handlers qualification is also desirable – or at minimum, the capacity to obtain one.
This role will be located at two of our three services. Both are small – 35 places – and both have a family-like environment in old comfortable houses. Both are located close to each other in Brunswick.
What you would be doing
The main things that you would be doing include:
- Heating and/or plating midday meals that have been prepared by the cook
- Maintaining a clean and hygienic kitchen
- Supporting educators to deliver an education and care program when required.
- Ensuring compliance with routines, policies, processes and practices
Skills and experience
We’re looking for candidates with the following skills and experience:
- Flexibility and excellent time management
- An understanding of basic food handling and preparation
- Excellent communication skills both written and verbal
- Proven willingness to learn and improve
- Passion, enthusiasm and a strong commitment to high quality care
- Desire to work with children and demonstrated capacity to enhance their experiences
- Current Working with Children check, First-Aid Certificate, Asthma and Anaphylaxis training

Moreland Community Child Care Centres is a community-based, not for profit co operative of three early childhood centres. All three MCCCC centres hold an exceeding rating and all centres are located in Brunswick.
