- Early Childhood Teacher/Teacher with Diploma in Child Care for Preschool Room.  Experience in the Early Years Framework and experience with the National Quality Standards, experience in Montessori  an advantage but not essential.

Characteristic of Position: Work within CBCCS and the Center's policies and guidelines including the OH&S Policy and Code of Ethics.

Extent of Authority: Freedom to act within CBCCS and Centre guidelines including licensing conditions.

Position Summary:

<
 Responsible for the development and implementation of a individual play based program for groups of children aged between 3 and half to 6yrs of age in our preschool program. Our applicant will be experienced in this age group with strong programming skills. Will  ensurw that a warm, responsive and a safe environment is maintained. Also responsible for  maintaining  effective communication with management ,staff and  parents. Working with the Director. 

Centre Overview: Cabarita Beach Child Care Services is a 3 room Long Day Care Center  it is licensed for 56 children aged from 6 weeks to 6yrs.

Duties:

Educator 
1. Develop and implement a program suitable for children 3half to 6yrs of age linking program to EYLF and with regard to the NSW state regulations.
1.1 Take responsibility for maintaining developmental, observation and attendance records for each child
1.2 In consultation with the room team, take responsibility for the developmental and co-ordination of an inclusive program based on the needs of individual children and the group as a whole, recognising each child's differing background, abilities and experiences.
1.3 Evaluate and reflect upon the program according to objectives.

1.4 Weekly observation and evaluation and guidance of all room staff and the programs as Educational Leader.

2. Take responsibility for the daily needs of the children:
2.1 Train and supervise the room staff to provide for the well-being, including emotional needs of the children.
2.2 Take responsibility for the planning, implementing and evaluation of daily routines including feeds/mealtimes, rest times, toileting and hygiene. 
2.3 Ensure the children are comfortable and suitably dressed for all activities and weather conditions.

3. Maintain hygiene and safety in the Center:
3.1 Maintain high standards of hygiene according to center procedures
3.2 Involve team in developing rosters to ensure regular housekeeping
3.3 Monitor the safety of toys and equipment
3.4 Inform director if repairs are required
3.5 Report and record accidents and near misses.
3.6 Record and administer prescribed medication when needed.

4. Work as a room supervisor in the room and supervisor of centre when Director is not in the building.
4.1 Supervise staff and ensure they are carrying out their duties according to Center policy.
4.2 Provide support, guidance and training to staff and students.
4.3 Arrange room meetings for evaluation and planning purposes
4.4 Encourage room/ centre staff to work as a unit and to communicate effectively with them and for them.

5. Work as a member of the Cabarita Beach Child Care Services Team:
5.1 Understand, contribute to and implement the philosophies, goals and policies of Cabarita Beach Child Care Services.
5.2 Maintain current first aid certificate and working with children check.

5.3 Maintain required ACECQA  teacher registrations. 

5.4 Adhere  to CBCCS policies and procedures


6. Able to perform the physical and environmental aspects of the position:
6.1 Setting up indoor and outdoor equipment when needed
6.2 Lifting and carrying children
6.3 Being involved in the physical experiences of the program e.g. music and movement
6.4 Domestic duties on occasion when needed - e.g. hanging out washing, dish washing and drying, sweeping/mopping floors and cleaning toilets, lockers ect

7. Assist the Director with The Quality Improvement Plan, ensuring a high quality Licensed and Validated program:


8. Maintain Effective Communication:
8.1 Welcome and support new and continuing families, providing them
with information about the center, room program, center and room
philosophy.
8.2 Discuss daily issues with parents and direct them to director when
needed.

9. Physical and Environmental Conditions:
9.1 Lifting children
9.2 Moving furniture
9.3 Short walks/excursions
9.4 Bending/kneeling/squatting/sitting in all areas including sandpit
9.5 Assisting with children's clothing changes
9.6 Hanging/collecting washing, load and unload washing machine.
9.7 Removing equipment off shelves and replacing it
9.8 Sweeping outside areas and sand areas.



SELECTION CRITERIA

ESSENTIAL

• ECT Degree 3 or 4 year qualification/Teaching Degree with Diploma in Childcare
• Demonstrated understanding of the needs of children in a Long Day Care Centre
• Experiencing in programming for children aged 3 to 6yrs of age.

Current Working with children check
• Well developed communication and interpersonal skills
• An understanding of the integration process in Children's Services and the ability to plan and implement programs for children with special need
• Demonstrated commitment to planning a program for all children including children from cultural and diverse backgrounds
• Flexibility to work in a Centre with Long Day Care and Occasional Care
• Experiencing in communicating with children and parents
• Current Senior First Aid Certificate
. Demonstrated commitment to professional development

Knowledge of the EYLF for child care including OHS

Knowledge or experience with Montessori
