We value the importance of children's health and nutrition and are looking for a cook with the same values who enjoys cooking with the children and who can share their knowledge of nutrition with the children and families.

You will be required to plan, in consultation with the Service Manager, menus for all children which are:

  • nutritional and well balanced
  • suited to the dietary needs of the children (including allergies and intolerances)
  • a reflection of all cultural backgrounds
  • reflective of our services health and nutrition policies

To be considered for this role you will be required to have the following:

  • Food Handling Certificate or Food Supervisor Certificate
  • Working with Children Check – Blue Card (or willing to obtain)
  • Current Senior First Aid certificate
  • CPR including Anaphylaxis and Asthma
  • Previous experience cooking in childcare services will be highly regarded
  • Certificate III in Children's Services would be a huge advantage

Job tasks and responsibilities

  • Prepare and cook all meals
  • Work within the service’s philosophy
  • Maintain confidentiality at all times
  • Take responsibility to read and understand all policy and procedures
  • Support the Services' nutritional and kitchen hygiene policies
  • Interact with children in a positive, sensitive and respectful manner
  • Order, plan and prepare nutritional and wholesome food for children by following the Service menu plan and keeping within budget
  • You will maintain an organised safe, clean and hygienic environment at all times
  • Meet the individual food requirements of all children
  • Adapt planned menus to cater for children with allergies, ensuring utmost care not to cross contaminate with high risk foods
  • Be organised and manage time effectively
  • Your uniform must be professional, clean and smart at all times

We are looking for someone who is passionate about cooking and is looking to commit to a long-term role. If you have experience cooking in a child care centre or in a nursing home, this could be the ideal role for you!
