Collingwood College is P-12 government school with over 850 students on the main campus. The College offers educational programs to meet a range of individual needs in an outstanding educational environment, and is a warm and welcoming school with a strong commitment to partnerships with parents and the broader community. We have developed a structure that best suits the learning needs of students at different ages. The main campus is arranged with 2 sub-schools- Primary and Secondary. Each sub-school is arranged to create the most appropriate learning environment and approach for children at the different stages of their development. Well known as the pioneer school for the Kitchen Garden program, Collingwood College offers innovative and progressive teaching and learning approaches at primary and secondary level, including new Design options for senior students. The Educational Programs consists of a P-5 Mainstream Program inspired by a Reggio Emilia approach, a specialist P-10 Steiner Program and a 6-10 Project Based Inquiry Learning Program. At the VCE level the choice of subjects available is increased by a co-operative arrangement with Fitzroy High School. This school has 77.8 equivalent full-time staff: 3 Principal class, 55.44 teachers and 19.36 Education Support Staff

6. Proven ability to support Windows Active Directory based networks. 

7. A comprehensive knowledge working with and supporting a variety of Apple and Windows desktops, laptops and mobile devices

Role


Undertakes routine tasks that are usually carried out under close supervision and direction.  Work that carries some degree of independence will generally involve a limited number of tasks performed on a regular basis where priorities are clear, procedures are well established and direction is readily available.

Work has little scope for deviation. Problems can usually be solved by reference to well documented procedures and instructions and clearly established practices.  Deviation from established procedures will require reference to others for guidance and direction.  Assistance is readily available when problems arise.  An experienced employee at range 1 will exercise limited judgement within clearly defined guidelines and well established practices that relate specifically to the tasks performed.

Does not carry responsibility for the work of others.  More experienced employees will provide basic guidance and advice to others relating to tasks within the work area.

An education support class position supports the educational services being provided to students, but must not include duties of teaching as defined in clause 2.6.1 of the Education and Training Reform Act 2006 (Vic) or its successor.  Supervision of students cannot be required except where it is an integral part of the employee's position or involves supervision of students individually or in small groups, in controlled circumstances, where the responsibility for students remains clearly with a teacher.

Qualification requirements do not operate at range 1.  Certification requirements may be required to legally perform specific tasks - e.g. driver's licence, first aid, safe food handling.

Responsibilities


This position will, under the supervision of the Learning Technologies Coordinator, assist with the implementation of the Information Technology Curriculum with emphasis on providing technical support to staff and students at Collingwood College. This includes school owned devices, one to one program devices, staff BYOD, senior student BYOD and DET teacher notebook program. There is a need to be able to adapt and take on new duties to meet the needs of the evolving IT developments at our school.

Responsibilities

  • Solving technical issues relating to hardware and software, networking, printing.
  • Assisting teachers to implement classroom programs.
  • Working with teachers in small groups or individuals to deliver professional development.
  • Install, maintain, and support computer hardware and software for students and staff.
  • Responsibility for ancillary network devices such as printers, routers and switches.
  • Liaise with TSSP staff, contractors, equipment suppliers and service providers to support the ongoing implementation of ICT across the curriculum.
  • Keep up to date with current industry developments and recommend necessary improvements.
  • Documenting procedures for using school software and hardware.
  • Working with and liaising with technical contractors employed in the school.
  • Conducting regular and routine computer maintenance.
  • Participation in the development and implementation of future computer and network expansion, additions and upgrades.
  • Other duties as directed by the Principal.
  • Work with staff and students in the implementation of ICT across the curriculum and with professional development programs for staff.
  • Assist with the operation of all school back-up procedures within Departmental guidelines as outlined by the school’s TSSP.
  • Ensure that the schools technical functions are maintained and developed
  • Co-ordinate and support the Notebook for Teachers and Principals program along with the student netbook program

Positions at this level will, under general direction, assist with the co-ordination of support services within the school. The position may provide support to senior staff within the school who may be members of the leadership team and/or teaching staff responsible for the delivery of curricula.This successful applicant will provide specific functions that will require specialist knowledge and skills within the advertised ES classification. Technical knowledge held will allow for work to be undertaken with minimal supervision. Capacity to exercise judgement and problem solving skills would be limited to defined procedures and guidelines and assistance and direction is, generally, close at hand. Examples would be the technical support provided to the school library, computer laboratories, protection and back-up of school data and the general maintenance and development of the schools technical functions or other duties as identified by the Principal. Generally, this will require a sound knowledge of basic technical principles and qualifications in this area.  This position would also encompass provision of basic technical skills and experience to support school operations, services and to enhance the delivery of education programs. A key aspect would be to provide support to teachers to ensure that technical equipment is being maintained and utilised within the classroom
