Medical Physics Registrar - Liverpool Hospital - Temp F/T Employment Type: Temporary Full Time until 31.08.2023 Position Classification: Medical Physics Registrar Remuneration: $1319.77 - $1,906.26 per week Hours Per Week: 38 Requisition ID: REQ54439 The Medical Physics group within SWSLHD Cancer Services (comprising Liverpool & Campbelltown Cancer Therapy Centres) has a vacancy for a radiation oncology medical physics registrar. The appointed registrar will rotate across both centres with three other registrars. The position is for up to 5 years depending on qualifications and any advanced status in TEAP. The appointee to the position will be required to enrol in the ACPSEM TEAP program as a condition of their employment (at own expense), and continued employment will be subject to satisfactory progress demonstrated at an annual review. Access to 15 accredited physicists across both sites for mentoring, supervision and tutorials underpins the commitment of the department to registrar education. The registrar appointed to this position will have access to treatment delivery systems including an Accuray Tomotherapy unit and 5 conventional Elekta accelerators. Other treatment modalities include brachytherapy, superficial/orthovoltage XRT and TBI. In addition to training towards certification registrars will become part of the clinical fabric of the department, undertaking a broad range of duties. Active participation in various multidisciplinary forums, including site specific tumour groups, is expected.Current planning system comprise: Oncentra Brachy, Philips Pinnacle3, and Tomotherapy planning, as well as MIM for various imaging functions. A broad range of dosimetry and software tools are available. Research participation is strongly encouraged along existing research lines, including portal dosimetry, MRI imaging for radiotherapy, and MRI-Linac interactions & development (https://inghaminstitute.org.au/where-we-work/ingham-institute- mri-linac). Strong relationships exist with University of Sydney and Wollongong University in addition to the clinical school links to UNSW & UWS, and suitable candidates may become affiliates of the Ingham Institute. Selection Criteria: Bachelors degrees in physics, medical physics or equivalent discipline from a tertiary institution in Australia or equivalent from overseas (per National Office of Overseas Skills Recognition, NOOSR, requirements). A Postgraduate MSc or PhD degree (or significant progress towards the same) in physics, medical physics or equivalent discipline from a tertiary institution in Australia or equivalent from overseas (per NOOSR requirements). The degree must be acceptable to Australasian College of Physical Scientists and Engineers in Medicine (ACPSEM) to meet its postgraduate Training, Education and Assessment Program (TEAP) requirement. Completion or near completion of the coursework component of the Masters in Medical Physics (or equivalent Graduate Diploma for those undertaking a research postgraduate degree) from an educational institution and course acceptable to ACPSEM for meeting TEAP requirements. Eligible for associate or ordinary membership of the ACPSEM. Research experience as evidenced by postgraduate thesis progress or completion, or other relevant publication in a peer reviewed journal. Evidence of initiative and ability to prioritise amongst competing service requirements, and willing to work flexible work hours (early or late) at times, as required. Evidence of effective communication skills and ability to work effectively both in a multi-disciplinary team as well as independently. Need more information?
