The Education Portfolio is headed by the Deputy Vice-Chancellor Education and Vice President who leads the planning and implementation of the University’s strategies related to RMIT’s academic programs and the RMIT student experience. The Portfolio is responsible for services to support the quality of RMIT programs, including the professional development of academic staff, continuous improvement of the student experience, learning and teaching outcomes and the management of learning and research information sources. The Education Portfolio plays a key role in empowering students to access education, participate actively in the life of the University and achieve successful and fulfilling lives beyond graduation. The provision of a stimulating and satisfying experience for students is a priority for the University.

The RMIT Connect Group leads the development and delivery of student life participation strategies and activities and leads the design and delivery of multi-channel student service and support. More specifically, RMIT Student Life contributes to the student experience in building engagement and belonging, in providing skill development and leadership opportunities for students, and in providing student involvement in the development and delivery of student-led clubs, activities and experiences.

The Role and Your Responsibilities

The Experience and Events Officer supports the Senior Coordinator, Experiences and Events, Student Life to plan, deliver and evaluate student experiences and events. This includes providing administrative and event management support for major students events (such as Welcome Days), activations and pop-up events across all of RMIT’s campuses, student experiences such as trips and tours and social mentoring or supporting the sales and promotion of branded merchandise through the Campus Store.

Skills & Experience Required

You will have the ability to provide effective and efficient general administration and event support to a range of experience and event management activities, including but not limited to: venue, equipment and catering hire, liaison with campus security, maintain events calendar, maintain branded and unbranded event assets and merchandise, coordinate promotional assets and event bookings, provide support for reporting and evaluation of activities, manage micro-events, track expenditure and invoices and respond to enquiries about experiences and events.

Key to your success will be your proven ability to work effectively as a flexible team member committed to achieving your own and team goals as well as working in a university environment or large/complex organisation.

Appointment to this position is subject to passing a Working with Children check.
