Applications are invited for the full-time position of Technology and Applied Studies (TAS) Coordinator at Ravenswood for commencement in Term 1, 2019 to join our Middle Leaders team. The preferred candidate will be responsible for managing a large team of teachers in the delivery of curriculum 7 - 12 including the Higher School Certificate, and will be a member of the Teaching and Learning Group, and the STEM Committee.

The successful applicant will be an excellent and engaging classroom practitioner, who demonstrates creativity and rigour in the delivery of curriculum, enjoys leading a committed and professional team, and has proven leadership qualities.

Key responsibilities include:

  • Developing, promoting and maintaining the TAS academic curriculum, and evaluating the TAS program;
  • Ensuring that all subjects and courses have appropriate programs that are designed to meet the needs of our students and that NESA and International Baccalaureate Diploma Programme requirements are met;
  • Ensuring department resources are maintained;
  • Developing and managing an annual budget;
  • Encouraging, mentoring, directing and assisting teachers and non-teaching staff within the TAS department at an individual level;
  • Developing and leading an effective Department team; and
  • Working with students and parents on course choices and changes.

Essential criteria:

  • Qualification in Education and registration with the NSW Institute of Teachers;
  • Successful recent experience in a middle management position in a secondary school;
  • Skills and experience in managing a specialist faculty such as TAS;
  • Commitment to one's own learning and professional development;
  • Being flexible and open to change;
  • Being proactive and Innovative;
  • Effective Interpersonal Communication Skills; and
  • Ability to work in a collaborative team.

Ravenswood is a child safe organisation and all statutory checks and references are required prior to the confirmation of employment. A NESA PD Maintenance Report must also be provided.
