TAFE NSW is looking for individuals with current industry experience and knowledge in Community Services to join our team of teacherson a part time casual basis in our Hunter and Newcastle region.

  • Have knowledge in teaching across specialist areas related to Community Services, such as social work, mental health, counselling, domestic and family violence, and disability support work.
The role of the TAFE teacher as a professional educator is to help, construct, guide and enhance the educative process. The teacher delivers educational programs and facilitates learning, enabling students to achieve their desired outcomes.

If you have…
  • A relevant Degree in Social Work, Psychology, Social Sciences or Counselling and a minimum of 3-5 years’ experience in industry.
  • Experience in mental health, alcohol and other drugs, child protection, counselling, community development, Aboriginal Health, youth work or disability
  • Hold the Certificate IV in Training and Assessment (TAE 40110) or its successor and/or a Diploma in VET or Adult Education
  • A proven ability to communicate effectively in a wide range of educational, industrial or community environments
  • Strengths in problem solving and management
  • A commitment to maintain professional currency

Selection Criteria:
  1. A relevant Degree in Social Work, Psychology, Social Sciences or Counselling and a minimum of 3-5 years’ experience in industry.
  2. Experience in mental health, alcohol and other drugs, child protection, counselling, community development, Aboriginal Health, youth work or disability
  3. Hold the Certificate IV in Training and Assessment (TAE40110) or its successor and/or a Diploma in VET or Adult Education.
  4. Be prepared to continue to develop their Vocational Education and Training (VET) knowledge and skills as well as their industry currency and trainer/assessor competence.
  5. Proven strengths in problem solving and change management.
  6. High level written and oral communication skills in English and Proven ability to communicate effectively in a wide range of educational, industrial or community environments.
  7. Commitment and ability to facilitate learning in an adult environment and demonstrated organisational skills applicable to an educational setting.
  8. Demonstrated commitment to quality customer service and demonstrated ability to contribute in a team environment.
