The Role
We are seeking an English/SOSE teacher for a well-resourced and well-run high school in regional NT. Located near beautiful Darwin and other amazing top end attractions, these roles are contracts commencing Term III (23rd July) until December 2018 with the possibility of a permanent position in 2019 for the right person/people.
The School
Established in 1983, the school is a comprehensive regional school catering for students from years 7-12. Set in a beautiful woodland environment, the school uniquely features a 75ha mixed produce farm and community library. The student population is 1000 comprising approximately 25% EAL learners including indigenous students and students from other cultural backgrounds.
The working farm is fully integrated into educational programs and it consistently wins cattle awards for which it has established an excellent reputation throughout the Northern Territory. Also operational on the farm is a registered Boer goat stud, stud Brahman cattle, Australian stock horses and an annual production of a variety of tropical fruits.
There is also a community library where the love of reading and literature is promoted through a fantastic fiction collection and many annual literary events. The library is used by both students and the wider community who share the warm and welcoming space.
Common year level pastoral care programs and full uniform contribute to a safe and disciplined environment for learning. The school was recognised as one of 16 schools nationally as leaders in MindMatters implementation.
The school is set in expansive grounds and is a short distance from Humpty Doo township, located 35kms southeast of Darwin.

Job requirements
- Qualified secondary trained teacher of English and humanities including history and/or geography and/or economics
