The New York Film Academy Australia is looking for a Chair of Acting who is responsible for overseeing the delivery for the Acting for Film Program in accordance with state/government laws and accreditation regulations and consistent with the highest ethical standards.
Experience, education and qualifications:
- Bachelor Degree in Visual or Performing Arts or related field essential – Master's or Phd Degree highly preferred
- TAE40116 Certificate IV in Training and Assessment including LLN component.
- Passion for the Creative Arts Industry
- 8+ years teaching experience
- 10+ years industry experience
Responsibilities include:
- Delivery of the Acting for Film Program.
- Management of Acting Faculty, ensuring that teachers follow the syllabi.
- Assist in the scheduling of lecturers and classes and ensure that the classes are appropriately resourced and within budget as directed by the Academic Manager.
- Sourcing and recommending teaching staff to the Academic Manager and Director for approval.
- Management of staff in-classroom teaching hours, marking and feedback, class preparation and signing off on teaching faculty time-sheets.
- Provide regular evaluation and feedback to teaching staff, maintain academic compliance and hold regular faculty meetings.
- To ensure the Acting program is running effectively and efficiently.
- Teaching of classes and groups when required due to lecturer absence, or as enhancement to the regular program.
- Maintain links with the screen industry and industry professionals to maintain skill set.
- Hold oversight regarding acting production workshops.
- Assist students in industry related activities, including sourcing guest lecturers and speakers to enhance the student experience.
- Ensure that teaching faculty and students are compliant with Work, Health and Safety procedures and insurance requirements.
- Ensure that staff are aware of policies and procedures.
- Liaise with Facilities and Equipment Manager regarding student support needs.
- Oversee the end of semester and year performances, including quality of product, locations and resource requirements. Attend the students shoots and key acting workshops and have oversight of quality control.
