Position Information

Fennell Bay Public School has an enrolment of 174 students with 21% of students of Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander background and a FOEI of 162. Fennell Bay Public School is a proud member of the Mankillikan AECG. There are six mainstream classes, plus a support class, one mild intellectual (IM) and two multi-categorical classes. The school executive includes three assistant principals and an Instructional Leader. Literacy and numeracy is the core business with students being enabled and extended through Early Action for Success (EAfS) tiered intervention programs and evidence based practice driving classroom pedagogy. The Positive Behaviour for Learning (PBL) Program has been successfully implemented and has evolved within the school with positive outcomes for students, staff and community. Nar–un–bah, the SaCC (School as Community Centre) is an integral part of the school and allows families to access both service provision and inter–agency support. The school is supported by an active P&C who regularly plan fundraising activities. Fennell Bay Public School is successful in its implementation of a safe, caring and inclusive learning environment in which all students have the opportunity to succeed. This plan is a result of consultation between the students, staff and community.

Clearly demonstrated visible, approachable and proactive leadership of evidence based practice in mainstream and support classes. Capacity to build upon relationships with all associated groups within a diverse and dynamic community.

General Selection Criteria

1. High level educational leadership with the skills to lead and manage a complex public school focused on the delivery of high quality education

2. Ability to lead and manage rigorous and inclusive whole school teaching and learning programs

3. High level communication and interpersonal skills with the capacity to build positive relationships and engage all levels of the school and educational community

4. Ability to lead and manage the development and performance of staff to improve teaching and learning

5. Ability to plan systems and manage resources effectively and equitably to enhance teaching and learning

6. Capacity to lead staff in implementing the Department's Aboriginal education policies and to ensure quality outcomes for Aboriginal people

Conditions

If you have not held a substantive principal position in a NSW Public School at any time in the past five (5) years, you need to have completed the NSW Public School Leadership and Management Credential to be eligible to apply, and you will need to attach a copy of your provisional credential certificate or final credential certificate as part of your application.

The classification and remuneration of our school principals is based on school complexity, as measured through each school’s RAM allocation. As part of the ongoing application of the new structure a review of thresholds and outcomes will occur on an annual basis. The principal classification for this school is Principal Level P2 for 2018 and 2019.
