Position Information

Cheltenham Girls’ High School 1330 students, including 69% students from a non-English speaking background, is a leading comprehensive girls' school with strong traditions. The school is committed to providing all students with opportunities to achieve excellence in all areas of student achievement. The school has dedicated and highly experienced staff, and articulate and involved parents. School strategic directions include supporting the delivery of high quality teaching which empower students, strengthening the partnership between the school and the community and supporting teacher professional development to deliver quality teaching pedagogy. This position involves supporting the CAPA faculty and whole school initiatives.

Selection Criteria

Applicants must satisfy the teacher training and academic qualification requirements for this position. In addition to the general selection criteria, the applicant must have approval and successful teaching experience in the Creative and Performing Arts Key Learning Area.

Capacity to deliver effective, engaging and differentiated teaching programs, for improving educational outcomes for a diverse range of student learning needs in Stage 4, 5 and Stage 6.
Demonstrated ability to be a dynamic member of the school’s leadership team and lead initiatives that engages quality relationships between students, staff and the wider community.
 

Experience in leading and supervising curriculum development across the Creative and Performing Arts Key Learning Area.

Demonstrate knowledge and understanding of faculty and school based administration processes with a capacity to reflect on professional practice for ongoing professional learning and development to support staff in the delivery of high quality pedagogy.  

General Selection Criteria

1. Successful teaching experience with capacity to initiate improvement in teaching, learning and classroom practice

2. Knowledge of curriculum, assessment and student welfare with the ability to lead and design quality, inclusive teaching and learning programs

3. Educational leadership skills to build the capacity and manage the performance of individuals and teams

4. Well developed communication and interpersonal skills with the capacity to build relationships and engage students, staff and parents

5. Ability to plan and manage resources effectively and equitably to support teaching and learning

6. Knowledge of and commitment to the Department's Aboriginal education policies
