A wonderful new early learning centre located in Kirrawee, set to open it’s doors in September 2018 and they are looking for an exciting, innovative and experienced childcare chef to join their team.

This large-scale learning environment caters for a 79 place Nursery (0-2.5yrs) and 95 place Preschool (30months-6yrs) – 174 places in total.

The centre is architecturally designed and inspired by Japanese architect Takaharu Tezuka and will be a place of immense diversity and discovery, along with state of the art commercial kitchen and cooking facilities.

Together, we are looking for someone that is passionate about creating nutritional and exciting meals for young children.

Key Responsibilities:

To deliver a nutritionally balanced menu created by the Orchard ELC Nutritionist for children ages 0-6 years
Understanding cultural and dietary requirements of all children aged 6 weeks-6 years
Food preparation, cooking and serving of breakfast. morning tea, lunch & afternoon tea & dinner
Kitchen audits and stocktaking
Weekly food order
Maintaining a high level of kitchen hygiene

Essential Criteria:

Certificate in Food Handling
Certificate in Menu Planning
Current and clear Working with Children Check
Experience of working in an Early Childhood kitchen or similar environment (ie aged care) on a large scale
Have excellent communication skills
The ability to work at a fast pace to keep a busy kitchen moving & adapt menu according to cultural/dietary/age
Have sound understanding of the National Quality Standards/ Food Safety Regulations around food prep and kitchen safety
