Mercer School of Interior Design, a division of the Australian College of the Arts (Collarts), offers fully accredited courses in interior design and decoration that prepares students for an exciting career in the design industry. Whether studying online or on campus, our goal is to deliver an exceptional standard of design education for all of our students.

Reporting to the Operations Manager and working with the Student Care and Compliance Coordinator, the Student Administration Manager – VET will have responsibility for student administration processes and compliance across Collarts’ VET accredited programs at the Mercer School of Interior Design.  Crucial to this role is understanding the student lifecycle, improving and supporting enrolment activities, and ensuring compliance by making sure that all reporting, auditing and record keeping activities happen efficiently and within designated timeframes.

This position will be based at the Collarts Cromwell Street Campus for the Mercer School of Interior Design.  Undertaking tasks at other work locations may be required

Person Specification:  Qualifications & Experience –

  • 4 years of experience in a similar role
    • Experience working in a compliance or quality assurance role in an RTO environment and a demonstrable understanding of standards for RTOs 2015
    • Experience working with, and solid understanding of student management systems – VETtrak experience is highly desirable
    • Demonstrable experience using Department of Education reporting and student administration tools including HEPCAT, Education Portal and the eCAF system
    • Experience managing and leading a small team to support and achieve organisational goals
  • Working knowledge of learning management systems
  • Strong and accomplished administrative skills including strong knowledge and proficiency in MS Office suite and information management systemsworking knowledge of computer applications including Outlook and Microsoft Office packages (Word and Excel) as a minimum

  • Supervise student care team and manage VET enrolment activities
  • Manage the competing priorities of this role, planning and prioritising to pro-actively manage competing deadlines
  • Be self-motivated with the ability to complete tasks within strict timeframes, with a high attention to detail in a fast paced environment
  • Maintaining up to date knowledge of VET sector and ensuring college compliance
  • Working with and maintain excellent relationships with geographically dispersed staff and students
  • Championing a positive and productive team culture
  • Work flexibly within tight time schedules and in accordance with variable workload demands
