An exciting opportunity exists in the Grants Management Office at UNSW for a continuing appointment as a Team Leader. The successful applicant will have a proven track record in leading a team; the delivery of high quality customer service and substantial administrative experience in a high volume office environment.
The Grants Management Office (GMO) contributes to the University’s research performance and profile via the effective management of research applications, grants, contracts, consulting research and internal funding. GMO grant teams work with researchers to ensure that all grant applications comply with sponsor requirements, are submitted on time and that researchers holding funding meet all sponsor financial and progress reporting requirements; and that information stored in the management system is accurate and reliable.
About the role
- $117K-$124K plus 17% superannuation and leave loading
- Continuing
- Full-time (35 hours per week)
This position provides leadership to a team of four Grants Officers dedicated to the delivery of high quality customer focused services to the University. The position works closely with colleagues from the Finance, Legal and Research Strategy Offices, and those in the Contracts and Grants Management teams. This position is responsible for the quality assurance of services using best practice benchmarks and customer feedback.
The Team Leader is a senior member of the office and contributes to the development of strategic plans; policy & procedural documents; operational protocols; and, undertaking process and documentation reviews. There is a significant amount of hands-on work involved and it is expected the Team Leader will actively contribute to the day-to-day workload of the team. The position will be based in one of the three teams encompassing a variety of faculties, schools and centres.

We are seeking a customer focused individual who leads by example, who has a solid understanding of research funding management and can apply those skills to this role as a senior member of the office. The successful applicant will contribute to the development of strategic plans, policy and procedural documents, operational protocols and undertake process and documentation reviews.
To be successful in this role you will:
- At least 12 months demonstrated experience in the management and mentoring of a team in a service delivery, customer focussed environment, including evidenced ability to establish priorities and manage competing deadlines for self and others.
- Relevant qualifications and/or extensive work experience in research management or a similar area.
