About the opportunity 

Under the guidance of the Engineering Coordinator and Administration Manager the Technical and Administration Assistant will provide technical, administrative and work area maintenance support to the ACFR to achieve the research goals of the Centre. The incumbent needs to have a self-starting attitude in order to undertake various tasks in the day to day functioning of the Centre and assists within the ACFR workshops, labs and other areas, including:
  • Liaising closely with the Engineering Coordinator and ACFR Administration Manager to help ensure the smooth and efficient functioning of the Centre.
  • Assisting staff in various tasks, e.g. workshop duties, stock control, general maintenance, WHS inductions on lab equipment & deliveries and purchasing.

  • Certificate qualifications with extensive relevant work experience; or equivalent combination of relevant experience and/or education/training within a technical/mechanical environment.
  • Demonstrated excellent communication and interpersonal skills
  • Demonstrated problem solving and time management skills.
  • Experience in a technical/mechanical role and the use of hand powered tools plus a willingness to learn the use of new tools and equipment
  • Current drivers license with a good driving record.
  • Willingness and ability to participate in flexible working arrangements to meet ACFR service delivery needs as and when required.
  • Capacity to lift heavy objects (within WHS guidelines) and awareness of safe manual handling practices.
