About the role

This role is based at Marngoneet Correctional Centre, located in Lara (near Geelong). The role will involve direct contact with prisoners (students).

As a central part of our team at Marngoneet, you will have the opportunity to display and develop your already strong teaching principles and expertise. Even though teaching in a corrections environment can be challenging, the rewards for your work as a teacher, are life changing for your students.

The Teacher - CGEA provides innovative course materials and excellent teaching delivery to students within Corrections Victoria’s sites to support student success in courses and thereby improve their employment or educational pathways.

The position reports to the Site Manager and is responsible for liaising with students, relevant industry groups, community services providers and employees of the BHI Group at all levels. The Corrections Victoria Project provides delivery of nationally accredited education/industry based programs in a number of Victorian Prisons.

Your skills and experience:

• Certificate IV in Training and Assessment (TAE40110) or a qualification at diploma level or higher in Adult Education
• Relevant industry qualifications and an AQF 5 or higher vocational qualification
• EAL (English as an Additional Language) and Business qualifications will be highly regarded
• Adult Learning Principles: Experience in planning and researching for the preparation of programs and learning materials
• CGEA Expertise: Current and sound experience in working with or teaching learners from a wide variety of backgrounds with greatly varying life experiences.
• Administrative Systems/Compliance: An appreciation of administrative requirements required for the coordination of vocation education and training
• Learning Management Systems

• Empathy and Cultural Awareness
• Flexibility
