Job Title: Carpenter Workplace Trainer

Training Areas: NSW 2150, 2560 & 2750

Position: Permanent Part or Full Time

Salary: Contract or fee for service earning $77,000 plus ($60,000 while training)

Availability: Immediate start

Are you a qualified carpenter wanting to get off the tools? If so, this position may be ideal for you.

We are seeking a permanent part or full time Workplace Trainer to visit various job sites throughout South West and West of Sydney regions to provide onsite practical training to our Carpentry apprentices.

About us

Construction Training Institute has been operating for over 18 years delivering onsite training for construction apprentices, allowing them to apply their practical skills in a real world setting rather than in the traditional classroom environment.

We are seeking a new addition to our team with a long term career goal to help us keep up with our increasing number of apprentices.

About the role

• Train and assist apprentices to ensure their training schedule remains on track and they have gained the full knowledge and skills required in obtaining their qualification.
• Assess and mark apprentices practical and theory work
• Demonstrate and coach apprentices with “how to” complete specific skills and individual tasks of the trade
• Visit various job sites throughout the outer south west and west of Sydney regions
• Engage and build polite rapport with employers, staff and apprentices in a range of environments
• Work independently and be able to plan ahead based on flexible work times and locations of employers
• Good communication skills, both verbal and written
• Report and liaise with employers and CTI staff on apprentices’ progress
• Meet monthly training targets

Recommended skills and requirements

We will be looking at all applications individually and do not have a hard set of requirements. However, the more of the following points that you can tick off, the more favourably we will view your application.

• Certificate III or higher qualification in Carpentry
• Significant carpentry experience
• Experience in teaching, supervising or mentoring students, junior carpenters or other team members
• Drivers licence and reliable vehicle
• TAE Certificate IV Workplace Trainer qualification is a plus, however if you do not have it we can work with you to obtain one
• Ability to build relationships with employers, apprentices and CTI staff
• Time management and problem solving skills to priorities work
• Flexible in an ongoing environment of change and growth
