About the opportunity
A Postdoctoral research position is available at the School of Aerospace, Mechanical and Mechatronic Engineering, the University of Sydney, working for the ARC Industry Transformation Training Centre for CubeSats, Unmanned Aerial Vehicles, and their Applications. The Training Centre aims to 1) train the next generation of workers in cutting edge advanced manufacturing, entrepreneurship, and commercial space and unmanned aerial vehicle applications; 2) develop new instruments, technology and products to solve crucial problems; and 3) develop a world-class Australian industry in CubeSats, UAVs, and related products.

We are seeking for a highly motivated postdoctoral fellow to study dynamic performance of aerospace vehicle, control and integration of aerospace devices. In particular, we are seeking candidates with a strong research track record in the either the development of small satellites (e.g., micro- or nano-satellites) or of UAVs and one or more of orbital mechanics, satellite systems design, or payload, guidance, navigation and control, communications, or power management for small satellites and/or UAVs.

This position reports to Dr Xiaofeng Wu and A/Professor KC Wong in the School of Aerospace, Mechanical and Mechatronic Engineering, and Prof. Iver Cairns, the Director for the Training Centre. The Postdoctoral Fellow will collaborate with other researchers and liaise with research, administrative and academic staff of the University as well as with partner institutions and industry partners associated with the ITTC. Successful candidates will be expected to independently conduct research on Centre projects and co-supervise research students.

Applicants must also provide half a page to one page proposal that outlines a vision for the research you would like to lead, relating this to Centre projects and describing anticipated project outcomes.

The position is full-time fixed term for four years, subject to the completion of a satisfactory probation period for new appointees. Membership of a University approved superannuation scheme is a condition of employment for new appointees.
