This is an exciting opportunity to lead the Individual Learning Needs area at our Wheelers Hill Campus.  A key leadership role within a small, dedicated team, you will take responsibility for leading the area, it’s evaluation and constant improvement focus ensuring a vibrant learning culture.  Commencing Term 1, 2019, this is a full-time, permanent position.

 

The successful applicant will be required to provide Individual Education Programmes to cater for specific student needs.  This rewarding and challenging role requires an energetic, adaptable teacher and proven leader with exemplary teaching and relationships skills when working with students and teachers.

 

Duties:

  • Lead, support and facilitate the Individual Learning Needs team
  • Demonstrate an understanding and commitment to the Vision, Mission and Values of our school
  • Responsible for ongoing commitment to quality performance by all team members
  • Develop programmes that differentiate learning opportunities for students
  • Direct teaching of groups and individual students
  • Support classroom teachers through the modelling and sharing of effective practice
  • Complete and maintain student records
  • Initiate strategies with other organisations to continuously improve the quality of the program
  • Monitor resources to ensure the best possible outcomes for all students
  • Facilitate assessment and subsequent reporting
  • Submitting VCE Special Exam Arrangements applications
  • NCCD reporting & compliance (Nationally Consistent Collection of Data on School Students with a Disability)
  • Manage budgets and expenditure
  • Co-ordinate documentation for the learning area as required by Head of Teaching & Learning
  • Active involvement in Campus activities

 

Selection Criteria:

  • Current VIT registration or eligibility to be registered
  • Qualifications and experience in Special Education - preferably Masters Degree
  • Experience in the provision of learning support to students in the key learning areas of literacy, language and numeracy
  • Previous experience in leading teams
  • Demonstrated commitment to professional development
  • Ability to demonstrate outstanding teaching practice
  • Knowledge and/or experience of the International Baccalaureate highly regarded
