About the Role

The Senior Lecturer makes significant contributions to teaching, professional service and ERA research outputs in the field of Construction Management. They have a significant research and teaching portfolio in the School themes: Infrastructure Project Delivery and Construction Business (including Construction Governance, Procurement and Project Systems; Innovative Construction Materials and Manufacturing Systems,) or Building Resilience (including Disaster Resilience, Recovery and Sustainable Development; Built Environments for Better Health and Aged Care). Their teaching and research outputs align with the School’s broad theme of Planning, Designing and Building Resilient Communities.

The Senior Lecturer will conduct lectures and tutorials, practical classes, demonstrations, workshops, student field excursions, studio session and on-line learning delivery in Construction Management at both undergraduate and postgraduate levels. They will be responsible for maintaining and advancing their professional capabilities relevant to the discipline and course areas taught. They will have experience in problem based learning with focus on real world problems. They will deliver significant contributions in Learning and Teaching in Student Feedback on teaching, Graduate Overall Satisfaction Index and the Graduate Good Teaching Scale. The Senior Lecturer also contributes to the outcomes aligned with the University’s Strategic Plan.

About You

You have demonstrated research leadership in Construction Management as well as demonstrated educational leadership in Teaching and Learning at the course, program, discipline and School levels. You have an awareness of the University’s strategic goals and the key priorities relevant to this position and prior experience in supervising and mentoring students and HDR students where appropriate. You are highly inclusive, embracing diversity in the workplace and setting a positive example for others.

The position requires that you have the initiative and creative approaches to the development and delivery of courses that are aligned Infrastructure Project Delivery and Construction Business and/or Building Resilience and with the School theme – Planning, Designing and Constructing Resilient Communities and that are interdisciplinary, technologically current and industry relevant.

You will have high level interpersonal skills to maintain positive and constructive relationships with students, academic and professional staff, external stakeholders and a developing national network.

ESSENTIAL CRITERIA

  1. A PhD in Construction Management or relevant discipline, combined with demonstrated experience in Construction Management industry or equivalent, membership with a professional body.
  2. Expertise and ability to develop and deliver course content areas in Construction Management and Project Management. Proven proficiency with new modes of delivery, including appropriate online platforms for distance learning with a focus on continuous improvement methods. Proven experience and excellence in teaching large cohorts of cross disciplinary students and emphasizing multidisciplinary synergies.
  3. Demonstrated experience in the interdisciplinary development, delivery and review of courses and programs that integrate theory and contemporary practice, preparing students to enter the workforce and to also deliver organizational objectives
  4. Proven track record in Construction Management research in the areas of Infrastructure Project Delivery, Construction Business, Material Science and Construction Governance. Demonstrated track record of externally funded research projects. Can generate funding projects through effective liaison with industry and government with evidence of research output as appropriate and ERA eligible outputs.
  5. A track record in research student supervision and completion.
  6. Highly developed communication and interpersonal skills including the ability to participate in a team environment, engage with industry stakeholders, interdisciplinary collaboration, coaching/mentoring of colleagues and demonstrating initiative and a commitment to continuous improvement.
