About the Role

The Lecturer is responsible for the delivery of teaching and research innovation in the Construction Management discipline and engage with School priorities for impact and engagement with industry, within the broad theme of Planning, Designing and Constructing Resilient Communities. Their expertise will align with the two School sub-themes: Infrastructure Project Delivery and Construction Business (including Construction Governance, Procurement and Project Systems; Innovative Construction Materials and Manufacturing Systems) or Building Resilience (including Disaster Resilience, Recovery and Sustainable Development; Built Environments for Better Health and Aged Care). The Lecturer delivers courses focused on problem based learning and on-line learning with a focus on real world problems.

The Lecturer will conduct lectures and tutorials, practical classes, demonstrations, workshops, student field excursions, studio session and on-line learning delivery. They will be responsible for maintaining and advancing their professional capabilities relevant to the discipline and course areas taught. The Lecturer also contributes to the delivery of the University’s Strategic Plan.

About You

You will be required to navigate the challenges of applying learning to real world issues in order to create a difference and deliver benefits to the discipline, industry and broader society. The position requires that you have the initiative and can deliver creative approaches to the development and delivery of courses that are aligned to the School theme of Planning Designing and Constructing Resilient Communities and are interdisciplinary, technologically current and industry relevant.

You will have high level interpersonal skills to maintain positive and constructive relationships with students, academic and professional staff, external stakeholders and a developing national network.

It is essential that you have the ability to provide support and practical expertise in assisting students in understanding the discipline of Construction Management and its changing role in the rapidly changing technological and competitive industry environment. This will require navigating the challenges of applying learning to real world issues in order to create a difference and deliver benefits to the discipline, industry and broader society.

ESSENTIAL CRITERIA

  1. A PhD in Construction Management, combined with demonstrated experience in the Construction Management industry, and have an appropriate professional body membership.
  2. Demonstrated research or industry experience which can contribute to two sub- themes: Infrastructure Project Delivery or Construction Business or Material Science or Disaster Resilience or Construction Governance.
  3. Expertise in teaching large cohorts of cross disciplinary students, emphasizing multidisciplinary synergies. Expertise in course content areas across multiple core courses in the Bachelor of Construction Management with enthusiasm and high level ability to deliver courses in face-to face and online delivery modes with a focus on continuous improvement methods. Engage with new modes of delivery, including appropriate on-line platforms for distance learning with a focus on continuous improvement methods.
