The role

The successful candidate will have a leadership role in defining the vision and research strategy for the school’s highly successful biomedical engineering research group with close links to industry and hospitals. Working with other senior staff in the school and in collaboration with UQ’s other faculties and institutes, you will expand the world-class research programs in Biomedical Engineering in one or more of the fields of: medical devices, medical imaging or medical signal and image processing. The school is currently undergoing recruitment for three Level B, Level C or Level D Academic Research Positions which will work closely with this position.

The person

Applicants should possess a PhD in Biomedical or Electrical engineering or related field. You should have significant experience and a successful record of research achievements in Biomedical Engineering with demonstrated high quality outputs and impact.

You should have an international research reputation with strong industry and international networks to leverage to develop a world class program of research with demonstrated impact. You should demonstrate your ability to lead significant teams, attract significant external funding, and capacity to work collaboratively across discipline boundaries. You should be an experienced and engaging teacher and demonstrate your ability to lead curriculum development and course design. You should have mastery of current pedagogy in engineering and/or computer science.

Remuneration

The position is a full time continuing appointment at Academic Level E. An attractive remuneration package will be negotiated with the successful candidate, including superannuation contributions of 17%. Remuneration will be subject to periodic review.
