Your new role  

As the Emergency Planning Coordinator your main purpose is to provide professional advice and support to stakeholders on matters relating to emergencies that impact the Curtin Community. In this role you will coordinate, develop, deliver and promote Emergency Management through training and awareness campaigns. This position also interacts with emergency services personnel, contractors, external stakeholders and regulatory agencies to research and interpret Standards, Codes of Practice and legislative requirements.

You will support the Emergency Planning Manager to coordinate, participate in and monitor emergency response activities and training for Incident Response Teams, Safer Communities Team, Health and Safety and other key stakeholders as required.

You will participate in the development, implementation, and review of relevant procedures and documentation.

You will bring to the role  

  • Completion of a relevant degree with relevant work experience; or an equivalent combination of relevant work experience and/or education/training.
  • Demonstrated ability in developing and delivering training in emergency management.
  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills and cross cultural sensitivity.
  • Your strong organisational skills, project management skills and ability to work well in a team will enable you to excel in the role.
  • An understanding of State and local emergency management and response systems and knowledge of relevant legislation would be beneficial.
