The National Gallery of Victoria (NGV) is seeking a Gallery Teacher who will be responsible for delivering learning programs inspired by the NGV collection and exhibitions, ensuring participants in NGV Education programs are engaged by high quality, rewarding and relevant learning experiences.
ABOUT THE POSITION:
You will use innovative teaching strategies and methods, including digital platforms, to deliver education programs aligned with current curriculum frameworks and the learning needs of visitors. You will teach student groups across a range of subjects, year levels and abilities (early childhood, primary, secondary, special needs groups, EAL and adult) in a variety of learning contexts (onsite, online and outreach). You will deliver professional learning programs for teachers, including at conferences and seminars at the NGV and contribute to the development of leaning programs and resources.
To be successful you will have excellent teaching skills, the demonstrated ability to implement innovative teaching strategies, including the use of digital learning tools and platforms coupled with the successful attainment of an appropriate teaching qualification and current registration with the Victorian Institute of Teaching. You can quickly establish a natural rapport with a range of people; you are able to use spoken and written language to convey and obtain information, insights and ideas and are able to provide information to a group of people in formal and informal settings.
You are proactive and self-starting, seizing opportunities and acting upon them taking responsibility for your own actions. You are adaptable, open to new ideas, recognise the merits of different options, and act accordingly. You understand the beliefs, customs, needs and expectations of the general community, a specific community, or client group; considers situations, activities, decisions and outcomes from the perspective of how people of different ethnic, religious, professional or social identifications might see them, demonstrating an understanding of the value of diversity.
