(Level E, Full-Time, Three-Year Fixed-Term Appointment)

An exciting opportunity exists for an outstanding academic to fill the role of Dean, School of Business on the Sydney Campus. Reporting to the Head of Campus (Sydney), the Dean is responsible for inspiring and leading staff to develop, deliver and promote the School’s objectives in teaching and learning, research, scholarship, and student and community engagement. The Dean will have a strong record of engagement with major stakeholders and professional and government agencies related to the discipline of Business. The Dean will drive the school’s participation in the recruitment of a high quality student body and the delivery of quality education and student experience. 

This position is based at the Sydney Campus and is responsible, through the Head of the Sydney Campus, to the Vice Chancellor.

In particular, the Dean is responsible for:

1. Developing and overseeing a culture within the School which is in furtherance of the University’s Objects;

2. Developing and implementing programs and projects to assist in the achievement of established goals and identifying new strategic opportunities for the School;

3. Overseeing and monitoring the curriculum and academic programs of the School;

4. Taking action to ensure the quality and relevancy of academic programs offered by the School;

5. Promoting research within the School, ensuring the standard of supervision of HDR students, and authorises submission of research proposals and theses;

6. Engaging with major stakeholders, community and professional and government agencies related to the discipline. 

7. Facilitating the development, implementation and maintenance of School policies and procedures;

8. Recruiting and supervising academic and administrative staff, including staff performance management and compliance with contract provisions;

9. Developing and managing the School budget and overseeing the implementation of University financial policies and procedures;

10. Coordinating the School’s participation in student recruitment, orientation and enrolment;

11. Teaching in accordance with the University Teaching Policy or engaging in an equivalent of research supervision;

12. Convening and coordinating meetings of the School advisory board;

13. Making a significant contribution to the scholarship and research relevant to the discipline and within the University;

14. Serving on committees and other working groups as required; and

15. Other duties as directed by the Head of Campus and Vice Chancellor.
