THE ROLES
We are looking for dynamic and experienced chef / trainer to join our academic team to provide our international students with a unique and inspiring educational and learning experience unlike no other with a great opportunity to apply your own creative flair. The successful applicant will be responsible for conducting classes on our Melbourne city Campus. As a trainer / assessor, you will ensure that Ad Astra maintains quality training and assessment. You will need a great attitude, WWCC and a current police clearance certificate.
Reporting to the Program Manager & Compliance manager you will be responsible for delivering training and assessment in certificate 3 & 4 Commercial Cookery and Diploma of Hospitality (Management) while at the same time supporting other members of the Commercial Cookery team.
Position will transition to full-time in future.
You will be responsible for:
- Delivering the highest standard of training and engaging students in dynamically run classes
- maintaining student attendance records, encouraging student participation and maintaining your industry currency.
- curriculum / course material development and delivery,
- assessment of student work and reporting results.
- Preparation of lessons and learning resources.
- Assessing students work on a regular basis
- Forwarding Formal reports of student results to the relevant Manager at the end of each session.
- Analysing LLN requirements of students.
- Participating in extracurricular activities.
- Demonstrate Flexibility with class timings
REQUIRED SKILLS, QUALIFICATIONS & EXPERIENCE
- Certificate IV in Training and Assessment TAE40110 or TAE40116
- Certificate IV in Commercial Cookery / SIT50416 Diploma of Hospitality Management (SIT60316 Adv Diploma management also a bonus)
- proven ability to work autonomously and work collaboratively in a team;
- excellent communication skills.
- Motivational and dynamic teaching ability
- More than 7 years’ experience as a Chef
- At least 5 years’ experience as a trainer in a functioning RTO environment
- Proficient in the Microsoft Office suit
- Knowledge of ASQA compliance for RTOs' & CRICOS
- PASSION for training and the industry
- Experience with ESL students
Preferred (non-mandatory) Requirements / Qualifications:
- Advanced Diploma of Hospitality Management
