The Vice-Chancellor's Postdoctoral Fellowships are open to recent PhD graduates seeking to evolve as high-performing researchers.

The fellowships are aligned with the RMIT Strategic Plan and our Enabling Capability Platforms and offers PhD graduates an opportunity to launch their research careers.

Our outstanding research fellows;

  • Contribute significant knowledge within our research priority areas — generating new ideas and building our cross-disciplinary understanding.
  • Apply innovative, enterprising research practice to solving problems and meeting the needs of our community.
  • Identify and develop innovative solutions to problems affecting communities around the world.
  • Work with internationally recognised partners to ensure our research has impact and contributes to solving global problems.

Our Fellows engage in research projects undertaken within high-performing RMIT research teams, aligned with one of our Enabling Capability Platforms:

  • Biomedical and Health Innovation; focusing on disease prevention and using holistic health to tackle the needs of growing and aging populations
  • Design and Creative Practice; ensuring future designs support sustainability, health and wellbeing as well as technological innovation and economic prosperity
  • Global Business Innovation; increasing the innovation capabilities of private and public-sector firms by looking at the innovation lifecycle
  • Social Change; focusing on health and social policy and practice, mobility, migration and
  • security, digital transformations, and work
  • Urban Futures; assisting public and private sectors transform how cities are planned,
  • built, and governed to achieve healthy sustainable urban development
  • Advanced Manufacturing and Fabrication; focusing on the manufacturing shift towards customisation, digitisation, international supply chains, and making manufacturing supply chains and components truly multifunctional
  • Advanced Materials; focusing on the materials needed by the industries of tomorrow
  • Information and Systems (Engineering); informing researchers and the wider community about how to exploit disruptions caused by the steep increase in data, communications and sensors; deep advances in automation; new energy production; and, the challenges of cyber security

To be suitable you will have completed a PhD within the five years, or due to complete prior to appointment to the position (excluding career interruptions). Applicants must provide evidence of their alignment to one of RMIT's Enabling Capability Platforms and demonstrate how their research expertise will contribute to existing high performing research teams established at RMIT.
