As a dedicated and passionate Educator, you will possess demonstrated knowledge of the EYLF and NQF.

THE 2IC ROLE:

TO SUPPORT THE CENTRE DIRECTOR AND THE TEAM TO PROVIDE A HIGH QUALITY EDUCATIONAL PROGRAM AND ENVIRONMENT INCLUDING BUT NOT LIMITED TO THE FOLLOWING:

  1. Have an actively anti-bias approach which is reflected in interactions with children, families and employees.
  2.  Provide a safe, supportive, stimulating and educational environment for all children
  3. Develop and maintain positive partnerships with all educators, children and families
  4. Advocate for Children and families and be available as a resource person to families.
  5. Protect children and their rights, ensure they are safe and adequately supervised at all times.
  6. Understanding of the National Quality Framework and Standards, the service philosophy of Education and Care along with the National Early Years Learning Framework and committed to the implementation of these processes.
  7. Develop an understanding of and commitment to the components of the Reggio Emilia pedagogy which support our philosophy and participate in the implementation of the program.
  8. Encourage, develop and build both community and family partnerships/experiences.
  9. Develop positive channels of communication between educators, Director, Support Team, and Families to ensure the smooth running of the service and contribute towards a healthy team environment.
  10. Guide and support educators to implement the program so as to ensure the program is continually improving.
  11.  Participate in ongoing professional development and training programs.
  12.  To provide ongoing support and assistance to the Director/Support Team in all areas of administrative procedures, curriculum development, parent and community liaison, educator professional development and training and any other areas as the need arises
  13. To be competent and prepared to be appointed to the position of Certified Supervisor as required.
  14. Keep up to date with current developments in Early Childhood Education, share and implement knowledge and practices
  15. Participate and contribute to the development, review and implementation of the Quality Improvement Plan (QIP).
  16. To mentor and supervise other employees with duties and centre operational requirements where needed.
  17. Demonstrate strong leadership skills and the ability to contribute effectively to a team environment.
  18. Ensure the service Director is informed of any issues arising which would affect the children or the smooth running of the service.
  19. A sound understanding of Work Health and Safety legislation and its implication to ensure a safe and healthy environment in Children’s Services.
  20. Assist with the mentoring of permanent and casual employees
  21. To assist with the enrolment procedures and bookings as directed
  22. Assist with the implementation of daily routines
  23. Maintain mandatory reporting as required.
  24. Ensure a high standard of hygiene in compliance with policies and procedures.
  25. Be flexible in shifts and hours, attend professional development and meetings after hours as required.
  26. Assume an equal share of housekeeping duties and ensure equipment is respected and maintained to an optimal level of safety.
  27. Ability to use arrange of  Information Technology and programs
  28. Attend parent meetings as required.
  29. Be aware of and develop skills pertaining to administrative functions within the service.
  30. Assist with administrative duties as required.
  31. Perform other duties as requested by the Director.

  • Diploma of Children’s Services or equivalent or Degree in Early Childhood Education from a recognized University
  • First Aid Certificate / Asthma and Anaphylaxis Certificate
  • Working With Children Check Clearance and Approval
  • Willing to make time for the position and willing to attend professional development opportunities to enhance leadership skills and facilitate further learning for others
  • Approachable,  well respected and able to mentor others
  • Knowledgeable about theories, pedagogy, the NQS and EYLF and regulatory requirements and standards
  • Skilled at supporting educators of varying abilities and learning style
  • Well-developed research skills

THE ROOM LEADER ROLE:

The Room Leader has an influential role in inspiring, motivating, developing and leading a team of educators. The Room Leader will be responsible for developing both the team and individual educators, environment, children and the educational program.

All responsibilities of this position are based on the National Law and Regulations, the Principles, Practices and Outcomes detailed in the EYLF and the NQF Quality Areas, Standards and Elements.

 All educators are expected to have a working knowledge of these documents which should underpin their pedagogy and together with the centre philosophy, directly reflect their relationships with children, families and co educators.

QUALIFICATIONS/REQUIREMENTS FOR THE ROOM LEADER ROLE:

  • Diploma of Children’s Services or equivalent or Degree in Early Childhood Education from a recognized University
  • First Aid Certificate / Asthma and Anaphylaxis Certificate
  • Working With Children Check Clearance and Approval
  • Willing to make time for the position and willing to attend professional development opportunities to learn more and implement
  • Approachable,  well respected and able to mentor and effectively communicate with others
  • Knowledgeable about theories, pedagogy, the NQS and EYLF and regulatory requirements and standards
  • Skilled at supporting educators of varying abilities and learning styles
  • Well-developed research skills

THE EDUCATIONAL LEADER ROLE:

The Educational Leader had an influential role in inspiring, motivating, affirming, challenging and extending the practice and pedagogy of Educators at Ready 2 Learn.

This role requires inquiry and reflection which can significantly impact on the important work educators do with children and families.
