Your Opportunity
 

We have an exciting opportunity for you to join the Cargill Malt Australia team as a Production Technician. Reporting into the Grain Handling Supervisor, you will be based at Minto ? New South Wales and be an integral member of the production team, responsible for the intake of wheat and barley into the storage facility and the outturn of malt and wheat for the export and domestic markets. This role will rotate through all aspects of grain handling and require participation in physical tasks, a focus on plant hygiene, diligent paperwork skills and commitment to EH&S, HACCP, Quality Systems, Environmental Issues and Customer Awareness.

You will be a self-starter, agile, diligent and a resilient team player to be able to problem solve and thrive in a fast paced working environment. Your ability to grasp a broad range of activities, adhere to processes and procedures, take initiatives and contribute towards building a strong safety culture will be key to the success of the role and will open opportunities to further advance your career.

 
 
Responsibilities
 

Your responsibilities include, but are not limited to:

 
Operations

Responsible for the control of equipment and interaction with transport providers to intake and outturn grain as set out by the grain handling supervisor instruction. The Production Technician will rotate through various functions such as intake, outturn, grain testing, hygiene and Australian Government authorised officer. Ensure any breakdowns or perceived problems are communicated to the Maintenance Department promptly. Logistics and quality documentation needs to be generated and maintained by the production technicians to meet regulatory and customer requirements.

 
Safety

Accountable for the safety of yourself, your work colleagues, customers and contractors. Contribute and influence an environment where EH&S is an integral part of how we do business. Take ownership and be involved and committed to achieve a safe workplace. Work to achieve a zero harm work environment and strive for continuous improvement on EH&S performance.




Food Safety and Quality Management

Contribute to the development of a food safety culture. Adhere to processes and procedures, and directions in relation to food safety and quality management. Ensure plant HACCP, Quality and Continuous Improvement systems are followed and requirements are met;


Team

Become a member of a four person production team striving to meet targets while operating within budget guidelines. Work closely with Maintenance Team to trouble-shoot, problem-solve and continuously improve. Interact with Laboratory and Production teams to ensure plant process operate smoothly.

As someone from a grain handling or industry background, you will have: 

  • Strong technical knowledge and aptitude;

  • Ability to partake physically challenging activities within an industrial environment;
  • Ability to contribute in a team environment through developing positive working relationships that are based on trust and integrity;
 Qualifications and other requirements 
  • A Certificate or Diploma in Food Processing, Grain Classification or related discipline;
  • Some prior experience in plant operations in a  process-related industry (food processing / materials handling will be well regarded;
  • Forklift licence is preferred;
  • This role will require flexibility to be able to work a roster, which includes Saturdays;
