Your challenge
The Container Planner reports to the Container Manager - Brisbane Ports and will manage container movements to meet our export requirements, an especially challenging task during the harvest period each year. You’ll be responsible for scheduling container movements into the plan, meet all vessel cut-offs and outturn container stock.
Your daily activities in this role will see you ordering empty containers in conjunction with customers and trucking companies, putting together the packing program, coordinating with trucking companies from the yard to container terminal and sourcing empty containers locally.
There are lots of relationships to manage in this role including with our container and terminal teams, transport and shipping companies, planners and customers as well as our marketing operations teams in Head Office.
Your skills and experience
You’ve ideally had experience within a logistics environment, perhaps in an import / export documentation role or similar. Experience gained in bulk handling, trucking, containers / container parks or similar would be advantageous.
Sound planning and problem-solving skills as well as accuracy and attention to detail will set you apart. You should also have strong computing skills (such as in MS Office).
