Our Client

Our client is a National service provider of industrial machinery who are known for being an industry leader in their respective field. Embedding their brand in the local market, they have seen significant growth in their business and have become Australia’s largest privately owned and operated industrial machinery company. Reporting to the National Operations Manager, they are looking to appoint a Field Service Manager in their retail business stream who currently has over 6,000 assets in the fleet. This role will see you lead and improve the performance of the field service technician team and provide coaching and support to the local technicians, and be a key part of a successful service department by making strong improvements in productivity and profitability.

The Role
  • Lead a team of qualified field service technicians to ensure all work schedules and required activities are completed within a timely manner and to be commercially minded
  • Provide a strong leadership style through coaching and mentoring the team, providing strong development plans and driving high performance
  • Identify and manage recruitment process of service technicians to meet staffing requirements
  • Monitor work flow via audits and regular communication
  • Driving leadership through delivering on planned service, operational excellence and financial outcomes through strategic innovation and high efficiency.
  • Interact with customers at all touch points and review / measure field service professionalism and effectiveness
  • Work closely with customers in NSW to ensure service levels are maintained, contractual obligations are being met and adhered too, problem solve customer issues and work on collaborate efficiency projects
  • Manage the service budget while maximising technician revenue recovery, identifying service revenue opportunities and proactively engage with customers to covert identified opportunities to sales
  • Ensure service revenue and margins are delivered against set budget and forecast
  • Lead and drive a strong safety culture across the retail field service function
  • Asset management of the service fleet van’s
  • Deliver and improve on set KPI’s for uptime, reliability and on time service as well as labour & maintenance planning to meet scheduled work

About you
  • Tertiary or Degree qualification in Mechanical/ Mechanical Engineering
  • Safety conscious with the mind-set of Safety being number one priority
  • Similar industry with skills aligned to the requirements of the role, industries such as Engineering Services, Construction, Mechanical Trade or Earth Moving Equipment would be preferred.
  • Have the ability to work in a fast paced high pressured environment
  • Hold strong leadership qualities and style with proven ability to motivate a diverse team of technical trades employees through collaboration and engagement
  • Have a technical and commercial mind-set
  • Be an approachable leader with a calming nature however hold a strong structure and discipline
  • Be a customer centric person who has proven ability to coordinate closely with clientele
  • Have proven ability in applying a continuous improvement approach within your experience as well as have the ability to be commercially and strategically focused.
