Mapoon Aboriginal Community is located in the western Cape York region, in far-North Queensland. During the dry season Mapoon is an easy 50-minute drive from Weipa. Here you will have access to world class fishing, pristine coastlines, a nursing station and primary school. 

The position: Responsible for the daily operations of the Rugapayn convenience store, this is a great opportunity to display your knowledge of retail store operations, including stock replenishment, electronic inventory system management, financial performance reporting, supervising and training staff and workplace health and safety.

Requirements: To be successful in this role you will have:

• Store management experience, including opening and closing of a store, daily financial reconciliations, monitoring inventory and preparing orders for new stock, stock security and staff rostering;
• The ability to maintain weekly sales, expenses and stock records and compile monthly performance reports;
• Experience processing invoices for payment in a timely manner, through MYOB or a similar program;
• Excellent communication, negotiation and interpersonal skills and a proven ability to maintain a high level of service delivery;
• Current MR class Drivers Licence;
• Relevant qualifications; and
• Experience working in a remote community will be highly regarded.

Total package value of over $100,000 which is inclusive of:

• Base salary of $85,000;
• 12% employer superannuation contribution;
• 2 return airfares from Weipa to Cairns per annum;
