V/Line, Victoria's largest regional passenger transport operator, has a proud history of serving its communities and customers through rail and coach services. As part of a constantly evolving industry, V/Line is responsible for over 80 train stations and maintenance of approximately 4,200 kilometres of rail track across Victoria. The organisation is committed to maintaining a high focus on safety and delivering excellent customer service, continually striving to improve the overall customer experience.
We are currently seeking to appoint a Ganger for our Murtoa team. Reporting to the Track Supervisor, you will be responsible for providing staff with a safe work place by identifying and minimising risk and supervising the performance of various maintenance works.
Working across the Victorian rail network (predominantly within the Western), you will participate with and supervise our Way Maintainers, Plant Operators, Welders and Safe Work Coordinators to undertake direct works of a specialised nature related to rail infrastructure such as the replacement and the renewal of construction works on tracks, across the network to defined performance standards. Further to this, you will be responsible for the timely response to emergency responses associated with tracks and structures. You will deal with both internal and external stakeholders including contractors, way maintainers, signallers and occasional contact with councils or the Road Authority.
In order to be successful in securing this position, you will have attended and passed the Certificate III in rail infrastructure, demonstrate experience as a Ganger/supervisor, and hold a current Victorian Driver licence. You are also required to be medically fit to perform track maintenance duties. You will have intermediate computer skills, be able to lead from the front, have strong communication skills and good time management skills.
This position is classified as IMW (Track) 2.5 ($39.4127 per hour) in accordance with the current V/Line (Infrastructure) Enterprise Agreement (EA) 2015-2019 The selection process may include aptitude assessments, a behavioural event interview, national probity (police) check and medical examination in line with the National Standard for Health Assessment for Rail Safety Workers.
