Airnorth, part of the Bristow group is now the major aviation operator in Northern Australia. The company operates over 200 scheduled RPT and charter departures weekly, to over 20 destinations in Australia and abroad. In addition to scheduled departures, Airnorth operates contract and ad-hoc charter services for a wide variety of companies undertaking mining, defence and government activity.

The Cabin Crew Training Supervisor is responsible for training, development and standards of the Cabin Crew team covering both safety and service elements on-board.  Reporting to the Manager Inflight Services, you will utilise your skills and experience to plan, develop and deliver technical and non-technical training.  As part of the Cabin Crew leadership team you will play a key role in setting the standards, culture and expectations of Cabin Crew and ensuring Airnorth remains Australia’s premier regional airline.

The role requires reasonable flexibility of work days to meet operational and training requirements.

Responsibilities:

  • Develop, maintain and deliver recurrent and non-recurrent ground and inflight training;
  • Develop and maintain training resource plans aligned with the departmental resource plan;
  • Develop processes and systems, and maintain training administration and crew records;
  • Lead, assign work to, develop and support cabin crew training and checking staff;
  • Ensure standardisation of cabin crew training and checking staff;
  • Quality audit procedures to ensure best practices and standards are maintained;
  • Liaise with training service and facility providers;
  • Assist with recruitment and promotion processes, interviews, performance management and staff counselling;
  • Mentor, support and be a role model for cabin crew members throughout their career at Airnorth;
  • Engage, inform and motivate staff through training, communication and active engagement;
  • Ensure safe, secure and compliant cabin crew operations are conducted, taking a pro-active approach to identify and mitigate risks;
  • Maintain procedural standardisation of Cabin Crew skills through line surveillance;
  • Embrace “Target Zero” and company safety ethos, initiatives and programs;
  • Actively contribute to departmental Risk Register and support management in mitigating risks;
  • Ensure timely closure of investigations, findings and other reports assigned to role;
  • Maintain knowledge of relevant, current regulatory requirements and upcoming changes;
  • Develop and revise training and checking manuals and documentation to ensure courseware is relevant and aligned with other stakeholders, especially Flight Operations;
  • Identify areas of improvement or opportunity in customer handling, service and product;
  • Consider and propose initiatives to improve performance, quality and safety;
  • Maintain high grooming and uniform standards for self and cabin crew;
  • Maintain a close working relationship with regulatory post-holders to ensure adherence to regulatory requirements;
  • Perform duties of Cabin Attendant, In-Flight Trainer, Check Cabin Attendant positions as required;
  • Regulatory training and checking requirements are overseen by the Manager Training Development and Standards (Flight Operations) with certain delegated responsibilities assigned to the Cabin Crew Training Supervisor.  A close working relationship with the MTDS is required to ensure training is compliant with regulatory and company requirements.

Applicants possessing the following will be highly regarded:

  • Experience as cabin crew and/or cabin crew trainer;
  • Experience in customer service and/or airline operations;
  • Experience in supervising or leading a team;
  • Relevant experience and/or qualifications in training, coaching or human factors;
  • Ability to motivate and support staff;
  • Ability to plan and prioritise work;
  • Ability to negotiate, influence and communicate effectively with internal and external stakeholders;
  • Understanding of departmental KPIs and staff performance management principles;
  • Demonstrated verbal and written presentation skills;
  • Proficient in the Microsoft Office – Outlook, Word, Excel and PowerPoint;
  • Ability to develop, document and promulgate policies and procedures;
  • Ability to hold an Aviation Security Identity Card (ASIC);
  • Ability to hold operational cabin crew status (eg Responsible Service Alcohol, First Aid, Passport);
  • Ability to obtain and maintain CASA CA0 20.11 Instructor and Certification approval.
