Airnorth, part of the Bristow group is now the major aviation operator in Northern Australia. The company operates over 200 scheduled RPT and charter departures weekly, to over 20 destinations in Australia and abroad. In addition to scheduled departures, Airnorth operates contract and ad-hoc charter services for a wide variety of companies undertaking mining, defence and government activity.

The Manager Inflight Services is responsible for ensuring high levels of cabin safety and compliance, as well as planning and delivery of inflight product and services.  Reporting to the Chief Operating Officer, you will ensure consistent high levels of operational excellence and service delivery across the network including integration with Ground Operations and Flight Operations policies and procedures, and liaison with suppliers such as catering.  Leading the Cabin Crew team, you will be accountable for planning, recruitment, training and mentoring.  You will utilise your experience and initiative to ensure Airnorth has a safe operation with a customer experience aligned to Airnorth’s status as Australia’s premier regional airline.

A significant level of flexibility and ability to work additional hours outside business hours is required in this role.

Responsibilities:

  • Develop and maintain resource plans to ensure optimal and adequate operational coverage, training and leave requirements of cabin crew are met;
  • Oversee and support senior staff in recruitment, training and development processes;
  • Manage, mentor and support cabin crew members;
  • Engage, inform and motivate staff through effective communication, meetings and events;
  • Assign resources to tasks and projects as required;
  • Provide input to budget and other business plans and actively control departmental costs;
  • Ensure safe, secure and compliant cabin crew operations are conducted, taking a pro-active approach to identify and mitigate risks;
  • Embrace “Target Zero” and company safety ethos, initiatives and programs;
  • Maintain departmental Risk Register;
  • Ensure timely closure of investigations, findings and other reports assigned to role and department;
  • Maintain knowledge of current regulatory and industrial requirements and upcoming changes;
  • Develop and revise departmental manuals and documentation and ensure alignment with other stakeholders;
  • Identify areas of improvement or opportunity in customer handling, service and product;
  • Determine catering requirements, select menus (passenger and crew meals), negotiate and liaise with catering suppliers, including resolution of product quality or service issues;
  • Consider strategies to improve on-time performance, operational efficiency, quality and safety;
  • Develop and maintain high grooming and uniform standards;
  • Maintain a close working relationship with regulatory post-holders to ensure adherence to regulatory requirements;
  • Perform duties of Cabin Attendant, In-Flight Trainer, Check Cabin Attendant and Senior Cabin Attendant positions as required;
  • Oversee, develop or facilitate the design, coordination and delivery of ground and inflight training;
  • Ensure cabin crew rosters are prepared in a timely manner and compliant with regulatory, industrial and company rules;
  • Manage cabin crew personnel administration including payroll, leave, changes in status etc; and
  • Attend meetings, produce reports and address other managerial tasks as required.

Applicants possessing the following will be highly regarded:

  • Experience as cabin crew and/or cabin crew trainer;
  • Experience in customer service and/or airline operations;
  • Experience managing a team in a rostered work environment;
  • Ability to motivate and support staff at remote locations;
  • Ability to plan and prioritise a high volume of work;
  • Ability to negotiate, influence and communicate effectively with internal and external stakeholders;
  • Understanding of departmental KPIs and staff performance management principles;
  • Ability to develop, document and promulgate policies and procedures;
  • Ability to hold an Aviation Security Identity Card (ASIC);
  • Ability to hold operational cabin crew status (eg Responsible Service Alcohol, First Aid, Passport);
