Our Client is seeking experienced Operations Managers for their offices based in Cheltenham and Springvale. This is a fantastic opportunity to join a customer centric and people focused organization.

1. Role Purpose

This is a senior leadership role accountable for leading technical operations teams (front line leaders and teams) to deliver technical services to the Vistorian community.

With a significant people leadership focus, this role is empowered to ensure delivery of a high-performance culture and operational excellence through exceptional change leadership and operations leadership skills.

2. Specific Functions/Responsibilities

People Leadership and Development

• Lead nominated teams via promoting the achievement of SMCT strategic priorities, setting key performance indicators, providing regular 1:1 performance feedback, coaching, guidance, support and visible leadership to teams and leaders.

• Manage and mentor operational line managers/team leaders with respect to strategic issues, and be a point of contact to guide day to day operations.

• Develop a positive culture amongst staff, reflecting the organisation's Vision and PRIDE Values

• Proactively lead activities relating to Performing with PRIDE (PwP) performance management process and effectively managing underperformance.

• Proactively lead the building of an agile and flexible workforce, able to meet the 7/365 needs of our diverse community.

• Actively lead the development of capability and skills of direct reports and employees and oversee departmental employee selection and coordination of training, utilisation, performance, employee recognition and retention.

Operations Management

• Work with the Operations leadership team in the forecast and establishment of workforce requirements, work schedules, equipment requirements, production methods and procedures to enable continuous improvement in all departments, to break down operational silos and in the establishment of an integrated operating model that embeds a ‘one SMCT’ culture with standard practices across sites and teams.

• Support delivery of organisational strategic plans through the development and implementation of operational initiatives that raise standards and improve performance.

• Continually review and monitor procedures and work practices to ensure the highest level of performance and compliance with relevant Acts, legal demands and standards.

Innovation, Risk and Compliance

• Collaborate cross functionally to lead key organisational projects and develop initiatives to continually improve knowledge management, quality service delivery and long term sustainability of Infrastructure and Operations services.

• Foster innovation and develop, propose, adopt and implement new initiatives and practices to improve the overall wellbeing of the community and boost our reputation as an industry leader.

• Support SMCT’ sustainability policy by minimising environmental impacts through optimised and effective use of resources.

• Devise and promulgate effective risk management strategies that reduce SMCT’s exposure to loss or damage.

3. Key Competencies

• Solid commercial experience, with at least 10 years in a senior leadership operations role within a corporate environment. Managed teams of 10+ people (technical teams, not administration teams)

• Experience in translating strategy into operational reality and successfully implementing operational excellence improvement initiatives.

• A highly capable leader with a demonstrable track record in driving superior performance and leading change through motivating, developing and building highly motivated and effective teams.

• Inclusive leadership style, with demonstrated commitment to leading and cultivating a culture of accountability and business excellence through safety and quality service delivery.

• Outstanding communication skills with the ability to build effective long term relationships across all levels of the organisation and with external stakeholders.

• Strong commercial business writing skills, including business cases, process mapping and procedure writing.

• Strong team orientation, both as a team member, leader and developer of teams.
