The Company:
Our client is a leading manufacturer, marketer and distributor of a diverse, high quality range of prescription and over-the-counter (OTC) pharmaceuticals, complementary medicines and specialty ingredients based in Laverton NorthThey are also heavily involved in new product innovation and introduction.

The Role:

Reporting into the Operations Manager, we are seeking an experienced Production Supervisor for the Afternoon Shift operations (3pm - 11.30pm). The purpose of this role is to manage a team of approximately 30-40 employees in all facets of pharmaceutical/human nutrition manufacturing and packaging operations. 

The position is fast paced, and will require high levels of supervisory and organizational skills. The successful candidate must have experience in production supervision in a manufacturing environment.

Your key responsibilities will include:
  • Lead continuous improvement with overall management responsibility for production & quality control
  • Drive a culture of technical and service excellence, encouraging individual accountability and formalising existing processes
  • Lead change management in an experienced production team
  • Implementing and meeting production schedules on time
  • Managing and working with a team of employees
  • Ensuring product meets quality requirements
  • Maintain compliance with company policies, safety standards and good housekeeping practices
  • Liaise with maintenance staff to coordinate maintenance programs with production schedules
  • Ensure activities comply with legal and ethical standards
  • Working autonomously
  • Meeting the expected performance of the operations department in the company
The successful candidate will possess:
  •  Degree qualified, ideally in engineering, manufacturing or related business  discipline
  •  LEAN training or knowledge 
  •  A "hands-on" leader with strong people, change management, influencing  and communication skills
  •  Previous experience within a dynamic pharma/food production environment  is highly advantageous
  •  Knowledge of OH&S, SOPs and industry legislation
  •  Ideally knowledge of continuous improvement principles such as Lean / 6  Sigma / 5S / Kanban
  •  High level of attention to detail and excellent organisational skill
  •  Minimum 5 years of relevant experience in manufacturing (preferably  pharmaceutical)
  •  Direct experience overseeing a team of production staff
  •  Strong communication skills
  •  Leadership skills

  • Attractive Salary range: $75,000 - $85,000 (incl super) - depending on experience
