PROGRAMMED Professionals specialises in sourcing and placing engineering, project management, technical and senior operations roles on either a permanent or contract basis. Our client base includes leading organisations in Construction, Facilities Management, Resources, Energy & Utilities, Manufacturing and Telecommunications.

An opportunity exists for a Category Management Advisor to become an important member of the team within Australia’s largest rail freight operator who everyday moves an average 700,000 tonnes of coal, iron ore and other minerals as well as agricultural and general freight across the nation. This role will see the successful candidate managing the capital, maintenance and spare parts categories for a period of up to 12 months with the possibility of extension.

The position

The purpose of this position is to actively manage vendor agreements/contracts under a performance based framework. This may include agreements/contracts whereby the client provides services to external customers.

To be successful in this role you will need:-

  • Several years of sourcing, category management, and contract management or supply chain experience in an ASX listed organisation or blue chip organisation

  • Experience with or qualifications in Contract Law

  • Bachelor of Business or other related field

  • Nationally recognized professional procurement/purchasing accreditation

  • Post graduate strategic sourcing/contract management qualifications

  • Demonstrated knowledge and expertise using various proven negotiation methods and the ability to critically analyse a negotiation

  • Demonstrated contract management, communication and interpersonal skills

  • Experience working in a large, complex organization

  • Experience with procurement conceptualization and data analysis

The work role responsibilities include:-

  • Administer all contracts including preparation, execution, updating, amendment and through project management against contracted terms and conditions

  • Maintain processes and systems in association with functional partners and customers to identify, track and action contract milestones and to identify, mitigate and manage sourcing, category management and delivery/build related risks

  • Facilitate the composition of bid specifications in such a manner that all stakeholder needs are addressed

  • Participate in contract, rebate, warranty, insurance, dispute resolution and defect liabilities negotiations with suppliers

  • Verify and process supplier/contractor progress claims for payment
