Our client is one of Australia’s innovative designers and manufacturer of Material Handling Systems and Equipment based in Melbourne’s Northern Suburbs.

Our client is currently looking for an experienced Controls Engineer for a 2-month temporary contract. There could be potential for some long-term opportunities within the business for the right person. The pay rate is negotiable depending on experience and there is opportunity to work from home once familiar with the system.

Responsibilities will include but not be limited to:

  • Design, development and deployment of electrical control systems and hardware components to an agreed specification
  • Development of System Functional Descriptions
  • Preparation of schematic drawings, PLC programs and configuration of operator interfaces
  • Manage the procurement of parts, the manufacture of cabinets and the electrical installation
  • Commissioning of equipment and systems prior to delivery to site for FAT
  • Liaising with clients and company personnel
  • Conformance to OHS&E standards in the design and execution of all work

To be successful for the role you will possess the following:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Electrical or Mechatronic engineering
  • Project experience during and/or post-degree
  • Materials handling system controls
  • PLC Programming
  • Allen Bradley Control Logix
  • Siemens S7
  • HMI/SCADA Programming
  • Allen Bradley
  • Siemens
  • Wonderware
  • Configuration, programming and commissioning of variable speed drives, servo motors, barcode scanners, safety devices, and safety PLC’s.
  • Flexible mentality and strong communication skills
  • Self-starter with a creative/innovative attitude towards finding solutions
