Planning and Forecasting Manager

Reporting to the Service Operations Manager - Operational Support, the Planning and Forecasting Manager is responsible for all Planning, Forecasting and Scheduling activities at WesTrac’s South Guildford’s component rebuild centre (CRC) and associated business units. This role will introduce and manage a Planning Function within this business unit and ensure that maintenance plans are robust and that the necessary resources, facilities and materials are available and allocated to deliver the plan.

The Planning and Scheduling Manager role will also play an integral part in the development of Planning, Forecasting and Scheduling in the future ERP system to help improve service efficiency and costs.

Key Duties Include:

  • Develop & Improve a Planning and Scheduling framework and strategy
  • Develop Operational Planning and Forecasting processes using existing systems while factoring in changes brought about by the development of new systems
  • Develop tools, visualised data techniques and reporting structures
  • Provide leadership, direction, advice and support to teams as required
  • Encourage collaboration across the business to share best practise and create efficiencies
  • Participate in sales (customer) and operational planning processes to enable demand-supply balancing analysis
  • Identify opportunities and make recommendations to improve operational performance through the application of planning and forecasting tools
  • Continually refine the forecasting model/s for product/s and services in terms of dollars and product mix to drive supply chain activities
  • Proactively identify processes within the business unit that would benefit from improvements and recommend the appropriate action
  • Monitor the performance of team members to ensure objectives are met through a variety of forums – monthly 1:1’s, coaching and formal performance reviews.

Essential:

  • Tertiary qualifications within business, commerce or engineering discipline, or equivalent experience within relevant field coupled with 6-8 years relevant experience in management, maintenance planning or supply chain including at least  3 years in same field
  • Previous experience utilising planning and scheduling software
  • Knowledge of the equipment management solutions industry
  • Demonstrated mathematical and analytical skills with the ability to accurately analyse, interpret and compare detailed information
  • Ability to compile detailed targeted reports, establishing recommendations and action accordingly
  • Advanced computer literacy - MS Office, internet based applications
  • Advanced communication skills (written, verbal and interpersonal)
  • Demonstrated experience in the identification of and actioning of continuous improvement initiatives
  • Advanced time management, planning and organisation skills, with the ability to manage multiple priorities to meet objectives
  • Ability to work successfully within a team and autonomously

Desirable:

  • Previous experience utilising planning & Scheduling software or other Asset Management Tools
  • Knowledge of Caterpillar Equipment or Mobile Earthmoving Equipment
  • Previous experience with Client/Contractor Relationship Management
  • Previous Project Management experience
  • Continuous Improvement qualifications (such as CPS, Six Sigma, Lean etc.)
