THE ROLE

Relying on business management skills and experience in the transport industry, this fast-paced role requires a flexible and adaptable fleet controller to coordinate all heavy vehicle and driver movements whilst ensuring compliance with all legislative and customer requirements.

Specific responsibilities include:

• Liaising with all stakeholders for daily operational activities
• Undertaking the coordination of all heavy and driver movements
• Ensuring vehicle and driver compliance of all HSE, Main Roads, AAL Policy and Procedures by completing daily audit checks
• Prepare work/shift rosters for all operations
• Liaising with contractors and ensure contracts are being serviced in accordance with terms and conditions
• Ensure submission of daily reporting
• Monitoring of cartage dockets, Fatigue Management Plans, and ensure that all Drivers/Operators submit accurate and timely trip sheets and comply with requirements
• Assist in the management of the HSE Plan

SKILLS & EXPERIENCE

• Ideally 3 – 5 years’ experience
• Sound knowledge of the transport industry and business management
• Knowledge and understanding of applicable Commonwealth/State Safety and Environmental legislation and standards
• Strong interpersonal skills and the ability to communicate with a variety of people (written and verbal)
• Advanced skills using Microsoft Office, Excel and PowerPoint
• Ability to work autonomously using a proactive approach to task resolution and problem solving
• Ability to be flexible and adaptable to work under pressure and in a demanding environment
• Leadership skills with a strong focus on safety
• Analytical skills and financial understanding
