Reporting to the Chief Executive Officer with responsibility for a workforce of 130 FTEs, the General Manager is critical in ensuring future success, growth and continued profitability.

Job Description

• Leadership and management of all operational elements of the business.
• Responsible for P&L/Budget management for entire business and monitor and manage all revenues and expenses that impact P&L performance.
• Lead relevant managers and subordinates to meet or exceed budgets.
• Build and take a lead role in maintaining a productive relationship with key accounts and customers and driving new business opportunities.
• Communicate and interact with customers and various internal functional departments to resolve issues, capitalize on opportunities and improve business and service performance
• Generate, cultivate and communicate ideas for continual improvement of processes and activities across all areas of the operation
• Work with the CEO to drive and execute strategy.
• Optimize the logistics cost structure while maintaining service levels and meeting customer delivery to support customer and growth initiatives.
• Develop and implement consistent KPI reporting and drive daily/weekly monitoring to meet established targets.
• Develop and implement consistent operational processes for customers by collaborating with the business development team to ensure standard application to all new business opportunities.

The Successful Applicant

The successful candidate will have a minimum of 5 years of general management / operational management experience within the 3PL industry and be able to clearly communicate previous achievements in driving growth, development and leading staff. The successful candidate is also expected to have:

• Experience leading and managing a warehouse / logistics operation
• Strong interpersonal skills with the ability to lead and motivate others
• Strong background in managing customer relationships, engagement and negotiation
• Strong estimating and tender submission preparation skills
• Proven organizational and analytical skills
• Proactive problem-solving ability
• Strong financial skills/background
• Highly developed presentation skills, excellent verbal and written communication skills.

• Degree qualified would be preferred, however not essential.
