• Work with dedicated medical staff as you drive around Qld and NSW.

You will play a critical role  in preventing blindness amongst rural and remote communities. To date the IDEAS clinics has saved the sight of 2,300 patients. The unique position  involves driving a mobile Ophthalmic Outpatients Centre  to 6 sites in Qld and NSW every two months, unpacking the equipment and setting up the van for 3 specialist medical staff to treat patients. This position is a vital support to the medical staff who  volunteer their time and expect that the IDEAS Van is set up to deliver treatment without compromise. The Van Operator is the representative of the organisation whilst it is in the field and works closely with the support team in Brisbane. This year the  IDEAS Van will travel to other States. The Van attends 2-4 conferences a year to showcase its work

The operator is provided with safe and comfortable motel accommodation and all meals whilst away, uniform and laptop (phone if required). If there is a break in the trip the van operator will be flown back to Brisbane. The trips are designed to minimise costs for the charity and therefore minimise the time the driver is away from home. 

ESSENTIAL  

• HC Drivers Licence
• Clean Driving Record
• Pass Police Check
• Ability to Problem Solve
•  Ability to Work Unsupervised

REQUIRED

• Experience in a Client Service Environment
• Sound Oral and Written Communication Skills
• Previous Experience in Handling Sensitive Equipment
• Physically able to lift equipment and climb small ladders
• Awareness of Occupational Health & Safety Issues
•  Good Computing Skills and proven experience using Information and Technology
