With a clear strategy for growth, Suez ResourceCo is an Australian based, globally focused Environmental Solutions Group with state of the art processing facilities able to manufacture a large range of quality, Refuse Derived Fuel and recycled products from various material streams. Embarking on the next phase of their growth, they are now seeking to appoint an enthusiastic and self-motivated Operations Manager to lead their “Alternative Fuels” Manufacturing facility located at Wingfield South Australia.

Job Description

Reporting to the SA Manager, you will be totally responsible for the leadership and management of all aspects of the plant operations including safety, people, process, projects, logistics, quality and maintenance. This role requires a strong leader to bring the team together and form a cohesive and focused unit during a time of exciting growth development. You will be responsible for total cost management of the facility and will manage an evolving team aligned to the growth of the manufacturing plant. Your people and communication skills will see you developing strong and productive relationships with all stakeholders both internally and externally to increase the profile of the plant and drive the team to maximise the return on investment from the asset.  Responsible for all production activities with a focus on safety, quality, up-time and cost management, increasing manufacturing and processing outcomes, your specific responsibilities will include:

  • Manage a team of Supervisors and Team Leaders over 3 shifts across a 24 hour cycle
  • Contractor management
  • Ensuring compliance with the Company's Quality, Safety and Environmental Management Systems  
  • Driving continuous improvement
  • Achieving production/quality targets
  • Management of personnel and equipment
  • Cost management and budgeting
  • Operational, Production Planning and reporting
  • Train / mentor shop floor in production and logistics processes

The Successful Candidate

The ideal candidate will have excellent presentation, strong interpersonal and engagement abilities, positive energy and rapport-building skills. Naturally, you will have significant experience in leading a manufacturing facility with a minimum 5 years experience in Production/Operational management gained within a fast paced processing and/or manufacturing facility. Experience within materials handling, resource recovery or quarrying type processes will be advantageous. Proven shop-floor production leadership experience, a track record in plant improvement and an understanding of Lean Management, ISO 9001 or similar process management principles is desirable, supported by high-level communication skills and the ability to juggle multiple tasks and meet deadlines. With an eye for detail, you have the ability to think laterally, to take initiative and to resolve problems positively.
