The Role

We are looking for an experienced Customs Broker to join our busy team in Queensland, Brisbane.

This position is required to:

  • Assist the Customs Manager in the overall operation of the Department to ensure accurate and timely customs clearance of air, sea and post importations.
  • Act in the best interests of client within the requirements of the Customs Act and other regulations set by various government authorities.
  • Process Customs Clearance of imported goods.
  • Provide freight, brokerage, and consultancy and distribution services to best suit clients needs.


Departmental/ Operational Key Responsibilities:

  • Classify, compile and lodge entries for miscellaneous importation or a nominated client base.
  • Assist with the resolution of Customs Border Protection impediments.
  • Maintain product classification database for clients.
  • After hours and weekend clearance attendance, as required.
  • Assist with skill development of compilers and support staff.
  • Assist Customs Manager in developing system enhancements and revenue opportunities.
  • Inform Customs Manager of any issue concerning a client which has caused (or may cause) them to be dissatisfied with our service.
  • Provide trade consultancy services as directed.
  • Assist, supervise and monitor workload and coordinating flexible hours within work group.
  • Check and lodge entries for self or other Brokers/Operations Executives.
  • Approve EFT processing for jobs within nominated liability.
  • Develop effective relationships with internal/external client base.
  • Provide timely and accurate assistance to the Customs Manager and Customs Department staff.
  • Produce accurate monthly reports as directed.


Competencies and Skills required:

  • Current Customs Broker Licence
  • Current AQIS Quarantine Brokers accreditation
  • Knowledge of relevant legislation
  • Familiarity with airfreight and seafreight clearance/delivery procedures.
  • Excellent Customer Service skills, Communication skills, highly service orientated.
  • Relationship management and influencing skills
  • Advanced computer skills (MS Word, Excel etc)
