Altec Australia is a leader in the design, manufacture and supply of both insulated and non-insulated trucks and cranes.

PURPOSE OF POSITION:

Purchases materials, equipment, and supplies from vendors based upon pre-established guidelines.  Works under the immediate supervision of the Service and Parts Manager in evaluating vendor quotes and/or services in order to determine the most desirable suppliers.   

Also, as part of an Oracle implementation project you will assist in the transition of current practices to Oracle processes.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Purchases components and services related to the manufacture of finished product, maintenance, repair and operations
  • Assists in the transition of current practices to Oracle processes as part of an Oracle implementation project.
  • Develop and maintain relationships with our suppliers, source and order parts, have a knowledge base to provide advice on parts, interpret the customer's parts requirements, purchase and maintain inventory in line with the business and customer needs.
  • Assists in the operations planning process including supply and inventory management
  • Work closely with sales, finance, production and quality assurance to develop Supply Chain procedures and processes
  • Chase overdue purchase orders ensuring timely delivery
  • Liaise with local and international suppliers
  • Request and assess quotations from suppliers
  • Prepare bill of materials and costings for new truck builds
  • Maintains system data integrity
  • Operates spreadsheets and word processing software
  • All other duties as assigned 

EDUCATION, EXPERIENCE, AND SKILLS REQUIRED:

  • Bachelor degree or equivalent qualification
  • Experience in procurement, logistics and/or supply chain
  • Microsoft Office suite experience required.
  • Prior industry experience preferred
  • Knowledge of supply chain principles and concepts preferred
  • Prior Oracle experience preferred
